Nationally, though, the tragedy is massive—126 lives lost across Pakistan since June 26. The People Behind the Statistics: It’s so easy to look at numbers on a screen, but these are real families. While a couple of the victims haven't been publicly named yet, I know that a single, devastating lightning strike in Tharparkar's Garho Kachhela village took three lives. It claimed Taj Muhammad Shah, Sajan Meghwar, and his sweet 14-year-old son, Amrit. Just heartbreaking. Tonight in Karachi: It’s officially late Sunday night here. The air is thick, and the city is under a severe, active heavy rainfall alert that runs all the way through August 4. The emergency teams are on high alert, and honestly, everyone is just watching the skies, praying the urban flooding doesn't get out of hand over the next 48 hours.
