Idk if all retail places are like this but I just need to rant for a minute. I am a PART time associate at a dollar store in my town. Well i always end up working full time hours due to us being short staffed and me being the only reliable person they can call in. Anyway i work my scheduled hours every week and I do as im told. I clean what im told to I always finish my lists the managers leave for me. Well I work faster then the other associates so I always end up with like a few hours at the end of my shift with nothing to do but run register and recover the store. So I walk around the WHOLE store and do recovery as needed because I do a near 100% recovery of my section when I get to work. Well apparently im not doing enough because I "wander" the store instead of doing my tasks. In my store the managers sign off on the tasks as we complete them so they KNOW that im done with them. Also they don't run register and their secton of the store is never fully recovered i end up doing the recovery for the whole store most days. I literally catch the managers on their phones standing in random places for 15-20 minutes at least 3 times a shift. But I can't walk around the store and recover the few things that need it. My store isn't busy most of the time so once a 100% recover is done I just need to pull forward a few products that coustemers bought. Idk if i need to do more. Also im kinda mad that I wasn't told about this issue sooner and that I had to ask why I felt like the managers were upset with me. I feel like we should tell each other when something is wrong. One of the other associates is constantly doing stuff wrong and the managers refuse to tell her anything so I always end up fixing her mistakes. But I feel if the managers notice something they should tell us. Idk i kinda feel like maybe if I stopped putting in as much effort maybe they will see that im doing a lot as is.

Yours Sincerely,Anonymous
