The 9 individuals who died from the mpox outbreak in Sindh province were infants and young children from the Khairpur District. Profile of the Deceased Victims: According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Sindh Health Department, the 9 fatalities occurred within an infant death cluster. Contributing Factors: Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho clarified that while these children tested positive for mpox during the localized outbreak, the virus was not the sole cause of death. The infants were severely weak and malnourished, which compromised their immune systems. Cause of Spread: Global health experts and the National Institute of Health traced the rapid transmission among these infants back to unsafe medical practices and poor infection control in local neonatal healthcare facilities within upper Sindh. The Patient in Landhi is Surviving to clarify, the 35-year-old man from Mohabbat Nagar in Landhi mentioned in today's report is not dead. He is alive and currently hospitalized in the specialized isolation ward at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital (SIDH) at NIPA, where doctors are monitoring his condition.

Yours Sincerely,Mushk Mohyuddin
