The Karachi Log: April 18, 2026 By Mushk 1. The Block 15 Watch (Gulistan-e-Jauhar) The Vibe: Life in Block 15 is currently a balancing act. Between the K-Electric shutdowns (8–10 hours) and the gas being cut during late-night and mid-afternoon hours, the daily routine for a family of six is tough. The Streets: Keeping a sharp eye on Munawwar Chowrangi. With road cracks and reports of daytime "follow-home" robberies, it’s a time to be extra vigilant when coming and going. 2. The Survivors & The Lost The Sole Survivor: Faisal Manzoor (26). He is still the focus of our hope, fighting for recovery at the Civil Hospital Trauma Centre after that horrific sewer gas incident. The George Family: A heavy reminder of the risks workers take; three members of one family (George, Vishal, and Shahir) gone in a single afternoon in Usmanabad. 3. City on Edge The Korangi "Checkpoints": Still a major concern. Armed gangs are essentially taking over the bridge at night, turning a commute into a gamble. The Manghopir Loss: The city is mourning another police officer martyred during an encounter with robbers this week. Mushk's Note: It’s a heavy week for the city. Safety is the priority right now, especially for those living in the heart of Jauhar. 4. The Climate Strain Heat & Power: The "anticyclonic wave" is making the power outages feel even worse. It’s not just a lack of electricity; it’s the physical toll of the heat on the kids and the elderly.
